What is Dumecology?
Dumecology is a language instruction model that uses innovative and culturally responsive pedagogical methods. Dumecology language programs are not facilitated in brick and mortar schools. Dumecology program participants learn the English/foreign language as they travel to exciting destinations around the world accompanied by skilled English Language Specialists. These English Language Educational designers have earned the title of Dumecologist.
What is a Dumecologist?
A Centurion Dumecologist is a World United English Language Specialist/Educational Designer who has achieved a Post Graduate/Bachelors Degree in Linguistics with a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language, the Centurion must also have a Masters degree in Education with an emphasis in Teaching English to Speakers of other languages (TESOL), the degree must be awarded from an accredited University ( recognized by the U.S Department of Education). To earn the Centurion title the Dumecologist must also facilitate 100,000 miles of Dumecology travel adventures, the travels must have provided positive experiences to at least 2,000 International U.S Department of State Educational & Cultural exchange visitors on F-1/J1 Visas. Finally, the Dumecologist must have traveled with participants from a minimum of 25 different countries. Manny Dume the founder of World United is the first and only Centurion Dumecologist in the organization, as of January 2025 the World United Dumecologist educational center will be based in the city of Plattsburgh, New York; the town where Manny attended high school as an International student at M.A.I/Seton Catholic. World United looks forward to certifying many Bronze, Silver and Gold Dumecologist during the following academic years.

In 1982 Manny's students at the Lotte Hotel in Korea were very intrigued that their teacher's name was " 두메" the lotte students with affection and kindness branded Manny as:

The educational story of 두메산골 and the Dumecology lesson plan design assigned to the story is exclusive to the Seton Catholic International Student Program; and can only be taught by the Founder Manny Dume or a certified Dumecologist.
THE ORIGEN
World United founder Manny Dume’s vision of Dumecology began in 1982 when he was the Lotte Hotel’s English Instructor in Seoul, Korea. Manny's Lotte Hotel/Shopping Center students always wanted to learn about exciting destinations in the U.S (San Francisco, Hollywood, Yosemite, The Grand Canyon, Chicago etc.) Manny had first arrived in Korea at the age of twenty (1977-1978), Manny had no experience traveling outside of the Northeast of the United States. That year at the Lotte was when Manny thought of the idea of someday developing a component to language learning that would be fun and enjoyable; Manny’s vision of Dumecology started at the Lotte in Seoul, Korea. Manny dedicated 20 years of his life from 2005 to 2025 to develop the Dumecology program, the component that teaches students foreign languages while they travel with the a Dumecologist to exciting destinations around the World.

World United Founder Manny Dume was the Lotte's full time English Language Instructor for four straight years from 1982 to 1986 while Seoul prepared for the historic 1988 Summer Olympics. At the Lotte is where Manny and his students envisioned Dumecology.

The 1980's was the decade of Pop Music. Madonna started her music career and became famous in 1982, that was the year I started to teach at the Lotte, Cyndi Lauper followed the following year in 1983. In the 1980's there was a "Korean Madonna" she was Lee Eun ha (이은하). In 1984 the Lotte hosted a Christmas concert at the Hotel's famous Grand Ball Room featuring Lee Eun ha. Mr. Song Yong-Dok was my mentor at the Lotte, he contracted me to be the Lotte's English Instructor when he was the Lotte's general affairs Manager in 1982. Mr. Song asked me if I could be the Master of Ceremony for Lee Eun ha concert, it was a wonderful opportunity that I have always remembered my entire life. In 1984 historically I became the first American to be Master of Ceremonies for a music concert featuring a famous singer in Seoul, Korea. Today in 2025 Korea is world famous in K-Pop with Black Pink and Rose' (APT), but we at Seton are proud one of their International students was part of Korea K-Pop history back in the early 1980's.
The Grand Ball room was the venue for all important events of the 1980's while Seoul prepared for the 1988 Summer Olympics. Andre Kim who Manny considered a friend held many of his fashion shows at the Grand Ball room, most of the important diplomatic events and dinners were held at the Lotte's Grand Ball Room.
